Couple therapy

Most couples get stuck in a rut at times, but sometimes we get really stuck and don’t know how to change it. Stay this way long enough, and we can even end up questioning the future of the relationship itself. If you and your partner spend too much time fighting, in uncomfortable silence, or just feeling disconnected and misunderstood, couple therapy can help.

What couple therapy looks like

In relationships, we continually try to balance what is good for me, good for my partner, and good for the relationship. Breakdowns happen when we can’t figure out how to take care of all those equally valid priorities at once, and hurt feelings usually follow.

There are many kinds of couple therapy that are effective, and at their core they have a common goal: getting you and your partner to talk differently. How would it feel to safely share what’s really in your heart, knowing your partner will listen with care? Wouldn’t it feel great to offer your partner the same loving safety? In couple therapy, we learn and practice how to do this, and we get safer, happier, and healthier relationships as a result.
